Lip Augmentation
Ideal Proportions & Lip Augmentation
To achieve a harmonious result, we must always follow certain rules. Some of these are as follows:
- In a state of calm, the corners of the lips should be in a vertical line with the pupils of the eyes.
- When viewed in profile, the upper lip should slightly protrude in relation to the lower lip.
- The upper lip should create a pronounced arch, right in the center.
- The rule of golden proportion, based on which the ratio of the upper lip to the lower lip should be 1 to 1.618.
Goal and Methods of Lip Augmentation
The purpose of lip augmentation is to give the lips a natural size and shape, so they perfectly match each face. Therefore, the aesthetic procedure must be performed with care to ensure that the lips do not exhibit any signs of exaggeration. Lip augmentation is now a safe and straightforward affair. The techniques available for lip enhancement are numerous and are chosen based on the desired outcome.
The methods we can select include the use of implants, the use of injectable materials, the use of autologous materials, or surgery. Naturally, as mentioned, there is no better or worse method. The choice is individualized and should align with the needs of each person, as lip augmentation will affect the overall appearance of the face.
Lip augmentation with hyaluronic acid
The lip augmentation with Hyaluronic Acid is perhaps the most popular injectable implant. We usually choose this method to correct imperfections in the size and shape of the lips. The injections are performed after local anesthesia via injection or anesthesia with a special cream. This type of lip augmentation is relatively painless, safe, and has particularly impressive results. In most cases, within one to two days, the lips appear natural. The entire process lasts 30 – 40 minutes, and for a complete result, usually, two sessions are conducted, with an interval of about ten days.
Hyaluronic acid has a satisfactory duration and natural result. After the initial visits, the results last for about six months, and if sessions are repeated, the duration increases significantly. One of the biggest advantages of lip augmentation with hyaluronic acid is that we achieve the desired result gradually. This way, there is no risk of an increase in the lips that is greater than what you want and suits your face. Another advantage is that by using a special enzyme, the hyaluronic acid dissolves in about 24 hours. This means it is an easily reversible process, in case the result no longer satisfies you.
Lip augmentation using implants
The lip augmentation using implants is a very safe technique, performed under local anesthesia and lasts about 20 minutes. By making 2 very small openings at the edge of each lip, we place the implants. The openings leave no visible marks and once the swelling subsides, there is no sensation of a foreign body in the lips. Additionally, silicone implants do not cause any reactions in the body as they are considered inert material. The advantages of lip augmentation using the Permalip method are as follows:
- It is not easily noticeable and has the texture of real lips.
- It is absolutely safe and does not create reactions in the body.
- It can be easily removed if desired in the future.
- The result is permanent compared to hyaluronic acid.

Lip augmentation with autologous materials
With the term autologous materials, we mean the procedure in which we use tissues from another part of the person’s body. The use of fat is the most common choice for lip enhancement.
After we collect and process the fat, we place it into the lips. It is a very safe method because the implant comes from your own body and does not cause reactions in the organism.
A portion of the tissues will be absorbed by the body, while the remainder remains permanently. This procedure can be repeated as many times as you wish in order to achieve the desired result.
