Liposuction – What is it?
Liposculpture is an innovative, quick, and safe procedure to achieve the body you have always dreamed of. The body structure varies from person to person. Fat is not always distributed symmetrically, resulting in what is known as “localized fat,” which causes aesthetic asymmetries. Certain areas where fat deposits occur are particularly resistant to exercise or diet. The “problem areas” in a woman’s body are usually the belly, thighs, and buttocks. In men, localized fat is typically found in the belly and chest. Unfortunately, this issue cannot be corrected through weight loss. On the contrary, fat deposits can become more pronounced in some cases when we lose weight. In plastic surgery, sculpting retains its artistic meaning but is enriched with medical knowledge.
The advanced form of liposuction in modern plastic surgery is liposculpture. In liposculpture (or fat transfer), fat is removed from areas with localized fat. During this process, special needles are used to remove excess fat, and after processing it, it is reinserted into areas that need enlargement to create more attractive proportions, such as the breasts, buttocks, and even the cheekbones on the face. We humorously say that “love handles,” the fat on the inner thighs, belly, and arms, are a natural prosthetic material produced by our bodies. Therefore, we can correct our imperfections naturally without resorting to foreign artificial substances, which can lead to failures and side effects. Even though a significant amount of fat is removed using the liposculpture technique, we do not face issues of sagging or surface asymmetries in the skin. Additionally, there is no pain or swelling, except for very minimal bruising.
Who is suitable for liposculpture?
Here we must emphasize that a healthy diet and exercise cannot replace liposculpture. To achieve a good result, we should be 7-8 kilos away from our normal weight. Therefore, the ideal candidate is one who maintains a stable body weight and is willing to adopt a healthy lifestyle after the procedure, with a balanced diet, regular physical exercise, no smoking, and as little alcohol consumption as possible.
Additionally, the condition of the muscles and the elasticity of the skin are taken into account by the plastic surgeon. Liposculpture is not used for weight loss, but to tighten areas that already have good elasticity. All of the above are necessary in order to maintain a good result after a liposculpture procedure. The surgery is not suitable for people who suffer from serious health problems such as diabetes or heart diseases.
